Episode 179: Guardians of the Galaxy

Episode 179: Guardians of the Galaxy

This week marks our 4th anniversary with Comic Book Informer. We released our first episode on August 4th, 2010. It’s been a fun ride, and there’s no better way to enjoy this anniversary than by shocking Vince again and again. On this episode, we talked about Guardians of the Galaxy. A lot. We gave our thoughts on the movie, as well as several different comics, including the main discussion for the episode: Annihilation: Conquest: Star Lord. For those who really aren’t into the Guardians, we also covered two weeks worth of What We’re Reading, so we’ve got you covered. Episode 271: The Vision

Episode 271: The Vision

This week, in light of the recent Warriors announcement which will star Viv, Vince decided we should check out the new Vision series. Both of us had dismissed it when it had first released, however reading through the first six issues proved that was a grave mistake. Also discussed this week, some Spider-Man… some bad… some meh. Episode 266: Angel of Death

Episode 266: Angel of Death

This week, Vince and I tackle some early X-Factor issues; those revolving around Apocalypse’s introduction, as well as Angel’s traumatic transformation to his Fourth Horseman. X-Men: Apocalypse did a terrible job with this profound event, and if you get a chance, we suggest you check out Louise Simonson’s story-arc in those X-Factor issues. We also discuss Civil War II, Transformers, X-tinction Agenda, Vader and more. Note: At one point when discussing X-tinction Agenda, I mention Jean being transformed into her teenage body, when in fact it was Storm. Episode 262: Meh Comic Book Day

Episode 262: Meh Comic Book Day

So this week was Free Comic Book Day. Who knew? This was one of the least advertised FCBDs of recent years, and it may be because there really wasn’t all that much to take in. With the exception of a couple good stories, most offerings weren’t up to par, in our opinion. As for What We’re Reading, we covered the new Thunderbolts, Nova, Punisher and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., which is ramping up toward its season finale. Make sure to check out my episode of All Comics Considered, where I hijacked the show with Hannah, Nick and ol’ Stevo. Enjoy. Episode 258: Superman’s Betrayal

Episode 258: Superman’s Betrayal

In perhaps Vince’s best slip, he wraps up our thoughts on this widely respected event. We went in with open minds, hoping to love a Superman story, and he betrayed us yet again. Luckily, we also had some of The Fix, Black Panther, Grizzlyshark, Old Man Logan and more to discuss in our What We’re Reading segment. Enjoy. Discussion Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow? Episode 253: Should we care that Spidey’s black?

Episode 253: Should we care that Spidey’s black?

This week, Vince decided we should talk about a couple new issues which caused some stir on the internets. Black Widow’s reboot was something that I had been dreading, simply because I’d been so enamoured with the last series. Sadly, while this first issue was impressive in some regards, I simply found it didn’t have enough story to warrant the cover price… great art or not. And then there was Spider-Man #2, which attempted to stir up crap, by having the writer use the main character’s voice to say that race doesn’t matter. A nice sentiment, certainly; however the fact is, it does. We are fighting to be more inclusive with our super-heroes, which means race does matter. Gender matters. Sexual orientation matters. Religion matters. Disabilities and mental health matters. We want more variety in our comics, more diversity, and more representation. So don’t tell us it doesn’t matter if Spidey’s black or not. Simply understand that it does. Lots more this week as well, with Wayward, X-Men, Transformers, Batman, Bitch Planet and more. Enjoy. Episode 246: With HANNAH!

Episode 246: With HANNAH!

This week, with Vince needing a day off, I reached out to our friends at All Comics Considered again, this time asking if Hannah would like to join me. She graciously agreed, despite giving her very little notice and we proceeded to have a great time shooting the breeze about a variety of titles. She also put me in my place as it pertains to a certain something-something that I wasn’t as crazy about. Enjoy. Episode 242: Read Monstress

Episode 242: Read Monstress

This week, Vince and I tackle some new number ones: Monstress, Jacked, and Klaus. As you can tell from our episode title, both of us thought very highly of one of these. In our What We’re Reading segment, Vince actually got me interested in reading a Transformers story-arc. Which is saying a lot. I also give me thoughts on what may be my favourite issue of the year. Enjoy. Episode 240: Darkseid War

Episode 240: Darkseid War

This week, I figured we should cover the Darkseid War taking place in Justice League. Vince has been mentioning it on and off again for a while, so I decided I’d actually binge read all of the Justice League issues since the New 52 relaunch, as I’d missed a number of them. The episode ran long, but we had a lot of good things to say about DC comics and just ran with it. Enjoy. Episode 237: Grab Bag #Something

This week, we decided just to do a grab bag, talking about whatever in the hell we wanted.
