This week, despite our respective colds, Vince and I talk about DC’s Batman and JLI Beyond series reveals, Marvel’s layoffs and series cancellations, as well as Spidey and the Hulk.
Great episode.
We also announced our Very Maberry Christmas Giveaway contest! Simply leave a comment here or email contest (at) comicbookinformer (dot) com and tell us a comic that we put you onto that you wouldn’t have otherwise read. Alternatively, tell us about one that you disagree with what we had to say about it.
What do you stand to win?
A signed hardcover copy of Marvel Universe vs Wolverine from Mr Jonathan Maberry himself.
Vince and I loved this series, and think it will make a fantastic addition to the lucky winner’s library… and if y’all aren’t ready to take it, Vince and I have made it clear we will fight for it. Maybe not to the death, but definitely to the bruising.
We’ll be taking contest entries for a couple weeks and will announce the random winner on episode 056. Taking shipping into consideration, the book should arrive right ’round Christmas.
Thanks kindly to Jonathan for helping us with this giveaway.
(Only one entry per person please.)

Hey Guys,
I first wanted to say that I listen to your podcast every week and always look forward to your rants and raves. Most of the time I agree with you reviews, but sometimes, … , well lets agree to disagree (I am a big fan of Jeff Lemire and liked Superboy); but before you delete my comment, let’s talk comics.
All summer I have been so caught up in DCs flashpoint and re-launch and been drifting away from Marvel (or at least cutting down). Your reviews this summer of flashpoint convinced me to pick up every issue (even Boster Gold). Let’s be honest in the Marvel didn’t have much to offer and Fear it Self was terrible and nothing more than as you guys described it “hammers for everyone”.
Spider Island on the other hand was AWESOME. While I was reading the main story line, and loving it, I was not picking up the cross-over titles. After hearing your reviews of Kung-Fu and Venom I recently picked up all the back issues and loved them. I had originally drop Venom before Spider Island but am back onboard scratching my head saying what was I thinking.
Keep up the great work.
Superboy?!
…
Superboy?!
You’re not exactly winning us over!
😉
Good to hear from you Shawn. Yeah, Flashpoint and the tie-ins were fantastic, up until the end, sadly. Still, twas a hell of a ride.
And as for Spider Island, what an unbelievable roller coaster ride that was.
Good luck in the contest!
