This week, Vince decided we should talk about a couple new issues which caused some stir on the internets. Black Widow’s reboot was something that I had been dreading, simply because I’d been so enamoured with the last series. Sadly, while this first issue was impressive in some regards, I simply found it didn’t have enough story to warrant the cover price… great art or not.

And then there was Spider-Man #2, which attempted to stir up crap, by having the writer use the main character’s voice to say that race doesn’t matter. A nice sentiment, certainly; however the fact is, it does. We are fighting to be more inclusive with our super-heroes, which means race does matter. Gender matters. Sexual orientation matters. Religion matters. Disabilities and mental health matters. We want more variety in our comics, more diversity, and more representation.

So don’t tell us it doesn’t matter if Spidey’s black or not. Simply understand that it does.

Lots more this week as well, with Wayward, X-Men, Transformers, Batman, Bitch Planet and more.

Enjoy.
