Episode 124: Grab Bag

Episode 124: Grab Bag

This week, having no clear plan of attack, Vince and I decided to have a grab bag episode, discussing whatever we’re reading. It wound up being a very fun episode with a lot of comics discussed. Episode 102: Drowning Daken FTW

Episode 102: Drowning Daken FTW

This week’s episode started with an impromptu discussion of the latest couple super-hero movies which have just come out on video: Spider-Man and Batman. Neither of which I really cared for. Well, maybe that’s a little strong. I just have a lot of bad feels about both. There are things which really irked me a lot, and normally, I go into comic book adaptation movies with very, very low expectations. It was a fun conversation which we hadn’t planned. I love tossing those wrenches into Vince’s carefully planned episodes. /insert evil grin here Afterward, we dove headfirst into the latest Uncanny X-Force issues to discuss the amazing work Remender has done. Enjoy. Episode 099: Bette Midler With Claws

Episode 099: Bette Midler With Claws

This week, Vince and I tackle some fantastic comics. First we talk about the end of Hickman’s run on the Fantastic titles, and we both agree that he went out in style. These two issues are insanely good. And then we talk about the recent TMNT issues, specifically those dealing with Casey’s abusive father, and the importance of family. Very, very fun episode, and make sure to join us next week for an awesome 100th! Episode 072: Franklin For President

Episode 072: Franklin For President

This week, Vince and I get caught up on the insanity that has been the Fantastic Four as of late. The recent story-arc, jumping from Fantastic Four to FF and back, has been absolutely, well, I was going to say fantastic, but that would have elicited groans, no doubt. So let’s just go with abso-friggin-gly awesome. What’s been great is how well the individual story lines between the different series work together to tell all of the various aspects of this one event. We also touch on a handful of recent comics in What We’ve Been Reading. Enjoy. Episode 29: Wah Wahwah Wah

Episode 29: Wah Wahwah Wah

This week’s recordings were both supremely disappointing and hilarious. Yes, recordings… plural. Due to technical difficulties during our regular Wednesday night recording, which were entirely my fault, this is what our tracks looked like. The upper track is mine. The lower track… yes, that flat line, is Vince’s. Unfortunately, due to some Skype shenanigans, Vince’s portion of the conversation was not recorded. We decided to re-record on Thursday, which in hindsight was not that bad, seeing as DC decided to drop another bomb on us after we’d recorded on Wednesday. PS. I hope you enjoy our Peanuts inspired outtakes… the editing time required for those was quite lengthy… though in my opinion well worth it. Episode 028: You Go Girl

Episode 028: You Go Girl

This week, we tackled the new FF series, with everything that’s happened from issue 1 to the brand new 4. We’ve been enjoying it quite a bit, and the new interactions between Spider-Man and the remaining Fantastic Four members are proving to be a perfect blend of humor and action. We also discussed the Ultimate Death of Spider-Man as well as the Ultimate Avengers tie-in; both fun reads, though the length of this event is starting to cause it to lose steam… not to mention the knowledge of a replacement Spider-Man already planned. We also ranted about Alpha Flight, each for our own reasons. Vince hates that a brand new series requires a point one issue (and I agree). I just didn’t enjoy the issue at all. I also ranted about the way it has been handled in the past and what appears to be on the horizon for it now. For the record, when I said there isn’t a Canadian writer on it, I meant the current incarnation, not the original series… though truth be told, I didn’t know John Byrne had lived in Canada for a stint. A point of correction for Vince, Byrne was born in England and moved to Canada when he was 8. Does that make him any less Canadian? Naw…. I just like pointing out when Vince doesn’t have all of his facts right.
