Episode 257: MARTHA!

Episode 257: MARTHA!

This week, Vince and I tackle the end of the latest Rat Queens story-arc. We have been vocal fans of this series since it began, however we both agreed that this story-arc was a hot mess… especially the last issue. We also discussed Doctor Mirage, Injustice, Saga, Vader, and of course, a certain movie that nearly no one likes. Enjoy. Episode 255: Daredevil – Season 2

Episode 255: Daredevil – Season 2

The much anticipated second season of Daredevil was released on Friday, and as per the Netflix Terms of Service, we binge watched it all over the course of the weekend. And because our For the Lore co-host, Joe, has such a unique relationship with one of the central characters, we thought it’d be fun to bring him along for the ride. We also discussed Rat Queens, Spider-Man and … Power Rangers? Enjoy. Discussion...

Episode 228: Tommy Lee Osborn

Last week, Vince talked about his love of the Iron Goblin; so he decided this week, we should cover the inspiration for it. Dark Avengers sees Norman Osborn leading a new Avengers team, whose roster is full of his villain pals. Also discussed this week, Rat Queens, A-Force, Injustice and lots more. Enjoy. Episode 211: Daredevil (Netflix)

Episode 211: Daredevil (Netflix)

This week, we had every intention of discussing Ultron and some Avengers, but Daredevil happened. Social media exploded with Daredevil chatter, nearly all of it overwhelmingly positive. I’m talking, of course, about the brand new Netflix series. The entire season (13 episodes) was made available, and like most folks, Vince and I binge watched it all. At the time of this recording, I’d not yet seen the last episode, though I have since. Please note, this episode is full of spoilers, so if you’ve not finished the season, be forewarned. If you’re wondering, we did also manage to discuss actual comics in our lengthy What We’re Reading segment. Enjoy. Episode 206: Born Again

Episode 206: Born Again

This week, Vince thought it’d be a good idea to tackle an iconic Daredevil story-arc… yes, that one where the Kingpin discovers his secret identity. While Vince wasn’t all that impressed, I actually enjoyed a large part of it. I feel the story got away from Miller toward the end, however it’s obvious he was building toward an unreal confrontation… and that’s what he delivered. We also covered a lot of new comics in our What We’re Reading segment… and despite Vince’s passive aggressive suggestions, I did not keep mine down to a maximum of three. Enjoy. Episode 177: TMNT

Episode 177: TMNT

This week, Vince and I tackle the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles… and a huge way, spanning three story-arcs (the last one still on-going). People need to understand that TMNT is currently one of the best series out there. I wouldn’t put it at the top of the list, but it is definitely in the top 10, in my opinion. What makes the series shine is the heartfelt family relationships, which have been put through the wringer as of late. We also cover some great… and not so great, comics in What We’re Reading. Enjoy. Episode 168: Kienan Lafferty Interview

Episode 168: Kienan Lafferty Interview

This week, Vince and I are joined by a Kienan Lafferty for a fantastic interview. Kienan is the independent creator behind the online comic Emma. You will be hard pressed to find a creator as enthusiastic about their work as Lafferty. He left his dream job at Riot Games in order to pursue this goal of creating comic books, and the passion shows in the calibre of his work. Both Vince and I respect the subtle, yet very intelligent, story behind Emma. Kienan puts as much attention into the panel layout of a single page than most creators do an entire issue. Also on the show, a handful of other creator owned comic books reviewed by Vince in What We’re Reading, and what’s this? I enjoyed a series about Cyclops? Head for the bunkers, it’s most certainly the apocalypse. Oh, and Rat Queens #6… because reasons. Episode 166: Rat Queens

This week, Vince and I cover a new series from Image which has impressed the hell out of us: Rat Queens. We had nothing but positive things to say about the first story arc, so make sure to let us know what you think of it. We also discussed Thrillbent’s new subscription service (which we also love) and the new Image Humble Bundle. Great episode. Make sure to check it out.
