Episode 053: Schism

Episode 053: Schism

If you’re anything like us, you, and your wallet, are currently suffering from Event Overload Syndrome. The problem with EOS is that we, as collectors, are driven to buy everything that is released to ensure we have the full event collection. This includes the good and the complete and utter trash. That is what has lead us to buy these titles… even though we enjoyed so few of them. This week, we present our thoughts on the X-Men Schism event, in all of its glory. (I can’t believe I got through that whole line without laughing. -Editor’s Note- In the “What We’ve Been Reading” segment, I wag my finger at Green Arrow #3 for its pot-shot at the gaming industry, when in fact, I should have been wagging my finger at Green Arrow #2. My apologies to Green Arrow #3. Although truth be told, I’d still wag my finger at you, but simply because you were so uninspiring. This week, we brought Tart Darling back for an interview discussing the state of women in comic books; especially DC’s relaunch. It was a fantastic interview and I’m certain everyone will enjoy it. This week, to celebrate our 50th episode (go us!), we decided to hold an impromptu drunk tank and invited @tartdarling to join us in our debauchery as we discussed, dissected and argued about Watchmen. Truly a fantastic episode. PS. We’d like to also thank our other co-host for this episode, Joe… who just couldn’t stand being left out of the podcast. Episode 049: Jonathan Maberry Interview

This week, we’ve got a special treat for our listeners. We’d lined up an interview with Jonathan Maberry, author extraordinaire of the recent Marvel Universe vs Wolverine, however upon starting the recording, Jonathan let us know that he’d love to stick around for the entire episode. Taking that into consideration, I shook up the docket so that we could shoot the breeze about what we’ve been reading first. Episode 047: The New 52

Episode 047: The New 52

With the first month of the New 52 in the bag, Vince and I decided an extra-sized episode of Comic Book Informer was in order to discuss them all, as well as our thoughts on the event as a whole. Overall, it will become very apparent very quickly that we were generally very unimpressed… a lot of verys, however I can’t insert duck quacks in posts as easily as in the podcast to keep it clean. Also tacked onto the end of the episode is a special feature from Joe, with his thoughts on the event as well as his breakdown of the issues. Joe’s opinions don’t match most of ours, however that’s precisely why I asked him to make this feature. I wanted a different opinion. I’ve said it before and I’ll repeat it here, comics, much like any other creative endeavor, or subjective. I felt it important to get another opinion as the topic warranted it. That said… Joe’s wrong. Most of the 52 sucked. 😉 Discussion The New 52 Superman Action Comics Superman Superboy Supergirl Batman Batman Detective Comics Batwing Batman: The Dark Knight Batman and Robin Batgirl Batwoman Nightwing Catwoman Birds of Prey Red Hood and the Outlaws Green Lantern Green Lantern Green Lantern Corps Green Lantern: New Guardians Red Lanterns Justice League Justice League Justice League International Aquaman Wonder Woman The Flash Captain Atom The Fury of Firestorm Green Arrow The Savage Hawkman Mister Terrific DC Universe Presents The Dark Justice League Dark Swamp Thing Animal Man Frankenstein: Agent of S.H.A.D.E.
