Episode 225: Our Favorite Secret War

This week, I decide we should read the best of the Secret Wars… arguably because it had nothing to do with Secret Wars (the plural). I’m talking about Fury’s Secret War (singular) which came out in 2004-2005. The event spanned a few series, and told a gripping political thriller involving a hit on a Prime Minister and eventual retribution. Bendis did a spectacular job on the writing. And not to be outdone, Dell’Otto killed it on the painted art. Read it. Our What We’re Reading segment was a little light this week, but we still covered some fun stuff. Enjoy. Episode 223: SDCC 2015

SDCC 2015 took place last week, and while the event as a whole leaned heavily toward TV and Film, we did manage to dig up as much comic book news as possible for this episode. Episode 220: Power Pack

This week, I decided we should head back to the 80s. Among all the X-Men and Avengers comics, stood a particularly charming series that ran for a number of issues in the early to mid 80s: Power Pack. For those of us who experienced it back then, the series holds a special place in our memories. I was pleased to see that despite some of the pitfalls which plague most comics of that decade, Power Pack still holds up beautifully. I highly recommend it, especially as an introduction to comics for young readers.
